50 Cent Ft. Nate Dogg - 21 Questions

This music video is a narrative style video, telling the story behind the song and helping to explain the meaning of it. From watching the video you can see that the story is about him being seperated from his girlfriend, as he gets sent to prison. The music video also uses a type of performance, showing both 50 Cent and Nate Dogg rapping the lyrics, however making it appropriate times to do so, for example making it seem like casual speech.

The video uses a great deal of cinematography, including various camera shots, angles and movements. Shots such as close ups, for example at the beginning of the video when the police come to knock his door down, the close up used to show the words "Knock Knock" on the battering ram. There is a good use of angles, particularly in speech when eye level angles are used. Also a good example of the movements used is the rotating movement used in the conversation between 50 cent and his girlfriend in the prison.

There is not a lot of editing used in this music video, apart from the phone call where the screen is split to show both sides of the conversation. Also the fast paced cuts and the slow downed motion of the fight scene. However these small pieces of editing used are effective.

The mise-en-scene used throughout the video fits really well with the song and the story the song is telling. Starting with a nice house in the suburbs, which is home to a big gangster. We know this due to the mise-en-scene of the large amounts of cash. The video goes on to feature within a prison, telling us he is a criminal. The mise-en-scene sets the scene and helps to tell the story through the narrative video.

Erick Morillo & Eddie Thoneick feat. Shawnee Taylor - Live Your Life

This is a performance music video, showing various perfomances from the artist's involved. By showing a number of different performances at different places and times, it also tells a simple story related to the lyrics. This story is basically the song title "Live Your Life", throughout the video there are clips of party scenes at clubs or festivals with everyone enjoying themselves, drinking and drinking. This is very typical of the music genre for this song which is house. The music video is very simple as it uses basic performance clips to tell the story of the song.Although it is a simple music video it is effective and has that 'feel good' effect whilst watching and listening.

The video uses very fast paced cinematography never allowing it to get boring. Also involving a variety of shots, angles and movements in order to keep it interesting. For example in the club shots a lot of movement and varied camera angles are used to make you feel apart of the 'buzzing' atmosphere. A great deal of close ups are used to show the happiness on people faces, which is a big part of what they are trying to promote, happiness. This once again linking with the genre house.

There is not a great amount of editing used in this music video as it is very simple. There is only fast cuts between shots, black and white effect, changes in speed of the footage and the very short clip of the aeroplane in flight. Although these are very simple and basic compared to many music videos, they are effective and work well together.

The mise-en-scene is also very typical of a house music video and working very well with the song and story behind it. Ranging from studios, clubs, festivals, cities and beaches. All representing a good time and telling people to "Live Your Life".

 Ed Sheeran - Lego House

This is a cameo music video, using Rupert Grint who is famous for his roles played in the Harry Potter films. The reason for using him is that he plays the role of a boy who wants to be Ed Sheeran and seems to be obsessed with him. Rupert Grint suits this role as he does look similar to Ed Sheeran. The video does not really link with the song and lyrics. At the beginning and throughout most of the video you think that Rupert Grint is playing Ed Sheeran but it all becomes clear once he is swept off stage and there are various clips to show his obsession for Ed Sheeran.

The cinematography used in this video is varied with many different shots and angles but slow, simple movements to go with the pace of the song. Although there are many different shots used to keep it interesting, the close ups and angles used throughout are paricularily important to show the emotion on Rupert Grint's face. The camera movements are slow to match the pace of the song and the acoustic genre of music.

There is very little editing used in this music video, only simple editing like cuts between shots and slowed down pace of the footage used to once again match the songs pace.

The mise-en-scene is also used to go with the story line of it Rupert Grint seeming to represent Ed Sheeran however only being an overly obsessed fan. This is because scenes like backstage, tour bus and an apartment seem to be apart of a typical artist's life, but all becomes clear at the end of the video. Also which shows us how he wants to be Ed Sheeran are how he dresses and does he hair, when the two cross at the end of the music video you can see a massive resemblance.
