There are many different genres and each one targets a different audience to aim their music at. Here is a list of some genres and the type of audience they may target:
Indie music can also be known as alternative, this means to be different. Indie music is very unique and is aimed mainly at teenagers who like to different to others. A typical person indie music would be aimed at is either a male or female teenager, possibly student who enjoys socialising, music and partying with friends. here is a photo example.
Hip hop music can mix with many of genres and is most probably the most popular genre worldwide, possibly more popular in the US. The type of person hip hop would target their music at would be either a young male or female, particularly young teenagers. A typical person who would be targeted by hip hop music would be a young teen in school, who enjoy socialising and the particular conventions within hip hop music for example wealth and popularity. House music has grown a lot since the 90's and is now today used with many other genres like hip hop. The type of person house music would target is either male or female, and old teen or early twenties.
